A total of 182 students received the SUNY Oneonta 2017-2018 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher.
Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
The University at Albany congratulates more than 4,000 students who were named to the Fall 2017 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List earned at least a 3.5 GPA.

The State University of New York at Potsdam has awarded scholarships, grants and awards to 1,071 students for the 2017-18 academic year. These accomplished SUNY Potsdam undergraduate and graduate students were recognized for their achievements with support for their educational experience.
SUNY Oswego has awarded Merit Scholarships to a select group of students who are starting at the college in fall 2016. The Merit awards are $3,000 over four years. For non-New York state students, the total award can increase to as much as $39,000 in combination with a Destination Oswego scholarship.
Congratulations for being selected as a Resident Assistant for the 2017 spring semester. Resident Assistants play a vital role on the UAlbany campus. Not only do they promote safety within the residence halls, but are also responsive to students' needs and assist in their growth as individuals and members of the residence community.
This fall, SUNY Oneonta will welcome approximately 1,100 freshmen and 600 new transfer students hailing from across New York, as well as from 12 other states and countries. New students moved in on Aug. 24, and the fall 2016 semester starts Aug. 29. Our newest Red Dragons will officially join the Oneonta family when they walk through the historic pillars of Old Main during the traditional Pass Through the Pillars ceremony on the campus quad the night before classes begin.
In an outdoor ceremony May 21, 478 degrees were awarded to members of Colby's Class of 2017 at the College's 196th Commencement. Former Vice President Joe Biden told the graduates to help the nation return to basic principles of equality and dignity and to understand each other's stories to develop a deeper sense of humanity. Colby President David A. Greene handed a diploma to each of the graduates.
Nearly 140 SUNY Oneonta students presented original research and creative projects at the college's 2017 Student Research and Creative Activity Day on April 12.

The State University of New York at Potsdam will recognize more than 1,000 candidates for graduation during the College's 2017 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 20. The SUNY Potsdam Class of 2017 will be awarded baccalaureate and master's degrees at the ceremony.

A total of 34 SUNY Oneonta students are studying abroad this fall through semester-long and academic-year programs in 11 countries. SUNY Oneonta offers exchange programs in Ghana, Ecuador, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan through the Office of International Education, plus a variety of short-term, faculty-led programs. Oneonta students also have access to more than 600 study abroad programs through the SUNY network.
